This is the most spectacular full-day excursion in Atacama: it climbs to 4,200 metres for the Altiplano lagoons of Miscanti and Miñiques, goes on to the Piedras Rojas lookout and drops down to Laguna Chaxa, on the Atacama Salt Flat, where the flamingos nest.
